All Change

Christine @ 12:02 am

Following our 2017 AGM, for the first time in a long time, we have an almost completely new committee.  Please see the updated Contacts page for more information.

Thank you to the outgoing committee for all the hard work over the last year (and previous ones), and the best of luck to our fresh new team.

Lewis’s 50th Birthday Meal

kingslynnplus @ 11:20 pm

On Sunday evening, 20 members of King’s Lynn Plus took to the road to participate in another of our favourite activities – eating!

To celebrate Lewis’ 50th birthday we went to Arbuckles in Downham Market and Christine managed to find a recipe for diabetic carrot cake.  Bill paying was the usual pandemonian of calculation and recalculations best left to the ladies,  and as always, they got there!

Ten Pin Bowling

kingslynnplus @ 8:15 pm

Last Tuesday we had one of our favourite and long established evenings out at Strikes in King’s Lynn.

Despite a few of us not being able to bowl due to various injuries, the form book ran pretty much to form.  We usually play 2 games with a combined total adding to the excitement.

The final positions were:

  1. Alan             204
  2. Colin           200
  3. Dawn C      167

New Editor

kingslynnplus @ 9:52 pm

My name is Paul and I would like to introduce myself as the new editor of this site for at least the next 12 months.  I have been in King’s Lynn Plus for a fair while, and during this time have made many life long friends, both in our group, as well as from groups all over the country.

I will hopefully give you an insight into the fun things we get up to, both on our Tuesday evening meetings as well as the weekend events we organise.  If any of them sound like the sort of thing you may like to get involved with, please feel free to get in touch, we would love to welcome you into our group,

Gone to the Dogs

Christine @ 12:44 pm

Friday evening saw a small group of us head to Peterborough to try and win our fortune at the Greyhound stadium.  This a regular event that we do two or three times a year, and the stadium tickets offer very good value with food thrown in.

Mostly we were disappointed on the betting front, no-one won their fortune, athough I believe Dawn C did manage to get most of her stake money back over the evening, but we still had an enjoyable evening.

We did pity the outdoor staff there, as the rain appeared to be coming sideways across the track whilst we were nice and warm inside!

Please bear with us while a new “website updater” person is trained –  due to other committments we have been neglecting this side of the website for a while now, but all should be rectified shortly!

New Members Night

Christine @ 8:51 pm

Once again I have been rather remiss in not keeping the website up to date – for anyone who is wondering, the group is alive and very well indeed, having recently welcomed a few new faces to our regular meetings and weekend activities.  We are missing a few months on the programme page, but I will shortly be uploading the latest programme which will take us through to the end of July, during which time we have various activities including a Eurovision party, visit to the Crab & Lobster Festival at Cromer/Sheringham, and our big event, the summer party camping weekend.

Also on the agenda, next week in fact, is our NEW MEMBER NIGHT – its sort of like an “open evening” where everyone is welcome to come along, see what we do and who we are and whether you would like to join us.  We are always pleased to see new faces on any of our regular club nights, of course, so if you want to meet us but can’t make this night, then don’t be shy, get in touch.

With facebook being so popular, and with most people sharing their photos on there, I haven’t been updating the photos page on this website quite so much, as I rely on others to send me their pics.  If you are a facebook member, then why not look us up there too?

Also, something to note is that for this year only, our annual membership charge is reduced to only £15 – a bargain!  Even better is that you don’t have to pay a penny to the group until you have had chance to decide whether you like us or not – the first four weeks are completely free of charge!

Full Steam Ahead!

Christine @ 12:39 am

All hands on deck now, preparing for WASH 2012 – looking to be a good event again this year and holding the numbers from last year too, which is great.  Next week’s meeting is the last moment preparation for those staying, arranging who brings the tea and coffee and other essentials for each of the caravans.

Next week also sees us return to Tuesday night meetings – its been difficult to find a night thats suitable for most people and we’ve again decided to return to Tuesday nights.  This should mean less disruption/confusion around the bank holiday Mondays, and hopefully after big events such as WASH etc.   The once a month meetings at Stuart House have been stopped, as the attendance was low, and we no longer need to avoid the mini club meeting at the Crown & Mitre.

Bookings are now being taken for the Christmas meal on 15th December at the Crown, Middleton – we have provisionally booked for 20 people so if you haven’t yet advised Paul that you will be attending, please do so and he will ask you to let him have your menu choices as soon as possible too.

New Programme/Scalextric

Christine @ 11:37 pm

New programme is now available online, and coming up is the Scalextric challenge this weekend – having had a rest for a year its now time to race small plastic cars around tracks which are replicas of actual race tracks around the world, followed by a few beers and a smashing meal at a local pub, and an overnight camp in the beer garden.

Hope the rain holds off for the campers!
